Apple Hill Ski Lodge
DEMOLISHED
Originally opened in 1962, by the owner of Kramer’s Music Store in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Frederick F. Kramer III. Apple Hill was a local ski area about 10 miles northwest of Allentown. Construction costs totaled $450,000, $3,841,346 in today’s money. Apple Hill offered beginner and moderate slopes, rope tow, and two T-bar ski lifts. Snow making equipment, ski school, and alpine-style lodge were also available.
Apple Hill was closed at the end of the 1978 season and the property was sold. At the end of 1978 plans were announced to build a recreational complex on the site to include a swimming pool, water slides, other outdoor recreational activities, and an indoor grand-prix racing circuit. However, the financing for this project never materialized and the project was never started. As of 2020, the property still remains undeveloped and abandoned, nature is slowly taking over.
